Jordan & Merethe SonneIn Roskilde, Denmark
rose two of Emmanuel's staff members--Jordan and Merethe. Jordan was raised by
his parents in a home with his two sisters. It was after his childhood and
through the invitations from friends at the Christian boarding school he attended,
that he began going to church and made the decision to follow Christ. Merethe,
an only child, was raised in a Christian home and environment. At age 18, Jordan
met Merethe, 19, at the church they were both very involved in at the time.
They began dating and married three years later on January 4, 1997. They both
felt led to serve God through mission work, but after looking through a large
number of locations around the world, they felt no peace about where to go.
Through word of mouth, Jordan and Merethe heard about Emmanuel and immediately
felt a peace about volunteering at the orphanage. After months of volunteering
at the orphanage, Jordan and Merethe decided that Emmanuel was the place they
would allow God to use them.
12 years later, Jordan and Merethe still serve at Emmanuel, but they now have three beautiful children: 7-year old Samuel, 4-year old Sarah, and Silas. At Emmanuel, Jordan serves as a building supervisor, a worship leader, head of the young boy's home, and is involved in various construction and maintenance projects. Merethe is in charge of the big girl's home and she is the executive director of the school that serves Emmanuel's children from pre-K through high school. Jordan has said that he loves serving at Emmanuel because he doesn't have to work for worldly masters and can instead serve God exclusively. Merethe has said that the thing she most loves about living and working at Emmanuel is being part of such a large family. In addition, she feels that this is the best place to raise a family and be able to experience the presence of God daily. Jordan and Merethe feel blessed to be at Emmanuel and they are very grateful for the strength that they receive by the support and prayer of their family, friends and church in Denmark. |
