Delmer & VeronicaHardworking staff member Delmer is characterized by his smile and positive attitude. Delmer was a member of one of the churches that David founded in Honduras before starting Emmanuel in 1989. Today, he is often found assisting Wade and Reed on the farm, helping out with the older boys house, and doing other various tasks around the orphanage. In his free time, he will often play soccer with the boys outside. Two days a week, Delmer is also teaching an extracurricular class on leather working.
Veronica arrived here in her early teens along with her other siblings--she is the only sibling left at Emmanuel. She came to know Christ while at Emmanuel in 1997. Now, Veronica is in charge of the sewing room and teaches sewing classes daily to the children at Emmanuel. She is also our visitor supervisor--on the weekend you will find her in the visitor's pavilion with children and their visiting biological families. Veronica is also a supervisor in the medium girls house. Delmer and Veronica first met in 1997 on Delmer's first trip to Emmanuel when he came to visit his cousin Tulio, a former staff member. After Delmer decided to stay at Emmanuel, he and Veronica began dating. Delmer and Veronica were married on December 13, 2003 by David in Emmanuel's church. They currently have four children: Bercelly, Daniel, Diego and Esdras. |
