Charlie & Abby Smith

Abby and Charlie Smith arrived at Orphanage Emmanuel in September 2010 and give thanks to God for allowing them to serve at such a warm and loving place. They do not have a defined time commitment, but feel that God will have them here for many years to come.

Having met on a college mission trip to Guatemala while at Texas A&M University, they both knew from the beginning of their relationship that God would eventually lead them towards full-time missions work. After nearly four years of marriage, they felt the calling to serve at an orphanage in La Ceiba, Honduras that was being started by their home church in San Antonio, Texas. It was from there that God eventually led them to join the hard-working staff at Orphanage Emmanuel.

At Emmanuel, Charlie works at the small boys house and is in charge of the chicken operation on the farm. He also plays drums in the praise band at the church and assists with all things technological such as the Emmanuel web site and the wireless networks.

Abby also works at the small boys house and helps out in the office with child sponsorship paperwork and other tasks. She also plays guitar in the praise band.

They have one son, Corbin, and a little girl Ruth.
